There is a computer room in every hostel with 5-10 computers, sufficient enough. Also, students enrolled for CS101 have access to OSL, having about 80 computers. Believe me, you will never be in a situation where there is no computer at your disposal.

Hello I am quite sure that I won't get sucked into the Gaming hysteria!! I can live without my laptop. If I don't carry my own laptop, how would I be able to practice Computer programs which is a part of 1st Sem?? Like I want to practice them at peace w/o any timing restriction!!

Hello Mitesh,

IIT Bombay has a dance club in which you can enroll after coming to the institute. You will be briefed about this in the cultural orientation better. Don't worry about the academics. If you manage your time well, you will be fine. You will get various examples of your seniors where they have done well in both their academics and dance. :)

Academic / Re: GETTING THE BOOKS

Books that you require/might want to refer to for each first-year course are in this post: http://gymkhana.iitb.ac.in/~smp/forum/index.php?topic=7.0

If you already have any of them, you could get them along. This list is not exhaustive though.

Academic / Re: Documents required during registration

We know that some of you will leave for iit bombay BEFORE the admission letter even reaches your home.
Do not worry about this, it's OK if you come without the letter. If you do recieve it in time, bring it with you. Otherwise it's fine even without one.
Make sure you bring all the other documents along with attested xerox copies. A tentative list of documents has been put up on the freshman forum in the 'important announcements' section.
