In the first year, you can also develop a hobby if you don't have one already.

I suggest you also try almost everything mentioned in the following websites:

If you sing, dance, play word games or are enthu in photography,
http://gymkhana.iitb.ac.in/~cultural/

Ever dreamt of creating cool robots? Visit:
http://gymkhana.iitb.ac.in/~technic/
To have a look at the cool stuff that people are already working on at technic and science club, visit:
http://www.facebook.com/nandansawant?ref=ts
you might also see a few of these at the orientation

for those into making planes, astronomy, physics or electronics we also have a science club.
http://gymkhana.iitb.ac.in/~science

And if you are enthu in sports / want to learn a new sport,
http://gymkhana.iitb.ac.in/~sports/

If you want to build your own formula one car or all terrain vehicle,
http://www.me.iitb.ac.in/~fsae/

And last but not the least, if you want to learn a new language, from the list but not limited to: french, german, Italian, Japanese, Arabic, Kannada, Tamil, Marathi, (Hindi / English) contact Antariksh (Make sure you pronounce his name right or he gets pissed off Tongue )

As you can see, there's lots of productive work you can do. Don't limit yourself to tv serials Tongue
