p.s. Saathi @ iitb is a forum and support platform for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender students in campus and facilitates safe spaces inside. Membership is inclusive and is irrespective of your orientation. Heterosexuals and supporters are most welcome. In 21st century India, social demographics are changing, and so shall the tolerance in people. We aim to bridge that gap between the various strata of gender and sexual identities.
The group can be a great place to make friends with people who are facing or have faced challenges similar to your own and can be a place to debate, discuss, understand and argue about various stuff, need not be just on LGBTQ isssues.
*Anonymity and Privacy*
We understand that many of you may not like to openly acknowledge your sexuality and/or might be apprehensive about associating yourselves with people who're open about their sexuality. We acknowledge and respect your concerns. Members can be as anonymous as they wish to be. No one would force you to reveal your identity or rush you into coming out to people. However, we encourage members who have come out, to share their personal stories and experiences with us so that others may gain inspiration from them.
The group has started as a Google Group and would soon move on to occasional meets, as we gather more members. You need not be out in order to attend the meets. You do not need to give out any of your personal details in the meets. Simply put, You need not do anything that you don't want to or are uncomfortable doing. Your privacy is your right!
and lastly, one needs to be at least 18 years of age and a resident of IITB campus (or alumni) to be a part of the group and attend meets, and 13 years of age to receive mails!
