Nestled within the vibrant campus of IIT Bombay, Hostel 18 stands as a testament to our commitment to providing a harmonious living experience for our residents. Established and inaugurated on the memorable day of 10th August 2019 by the Honorable Education Minister Shri. Ramesh Pokhriyal, alongside our esteemed Director Prof. Subhasis Chaudhary and other institute dignitaries, Hostel 18 has evolved into a hub of comfort and community spirit.Strategically located with the picturesque Powai and Vihar lakes on opposite sides, Hostel 18 provides a well-maintained, aesthetic, and comfortable accommodation.
With a total capacity of around 1100 single-bedded rooms, Hostel 18 is proud to be part of the evolving landscape of student hostels. Our facilities have evolved too, featuring a mess with a spacious dining hall, a stationery shop, ironing services, outdoor badminton courts, and versatile recreational areas for both cultural and sports activities. The common spaces include a TV room, study room, and a music room for residents to unwind and explore their passions.
The student-centric ethos is upheld by the Hostel Council, chaired by dedicated Wardens, ensuring the day-to-day functioning of the hostel is geared towards providing the best facilities. Our commitment to safety remains unwavering, with 24*7 CCTV surveillance and high-tech fire safety infrastructure.
In alignment with our commitment to sustainability, we have embraced eco-friendly practices. Hostel 18 continues to lead by example with solar-thermal water heating, naturally well-lit rooms, and conscientious water usage for gardening, with many more initiatives planned by the maintenance and mess council towards sustainability.
As the architectural design encourages interaction, multiple sit-out areas on each floor foster an environment where students come together, creating memories that last a lifetime.
