The GC brings together the best debaters from across hostels, puts them in front of experienced adjudicators, and runs them through motions that actually require you to think on your feet. It is competitive in the way that matters, not just for the hostel scoreboard but for the kind of growth that only comes from arguing under pressure in a room full of people who are trying to beat you. The preparation, the in-round adjustments, the moments where the argument shifts because someone read the room better than the other side did, that is what this event consistently delivers. For those stepping into a competitive debate setting for the first time, there is genuinely no better introduction to the format. Past GCs have had first-timers go deep into the tournament and walk out with a completely different relationship to how they argue and communicate.
