Greetings from Krittika, the Astronomy Club of IIT Bombay! We are excited to announce the next transmission in the HoloNet Astro Series. Join us for an extraordinary talk featuring Tamojeet Roychowdhury, a first-year PhD researcher at UC Berkeley. UNLOCKING THE MYSTERIES OF THE MILKY WAY'S CENTRE – A NEW LOOK WITH JWST The Milky Way harbors a secret at its heart, the nearest supermassive black hole to Earth and the very object that won its discoverers the 2020 Physics Nobel Prize. Yet despite decades of monitoring, it remains shrouded in cosmic mystery. Hidden behind thick layers of dust, Sgr A* continues to puzzle astronomers worldwide. Until now. With the infrared eyes of JWST piercing through the veil of dust, we are finally seeing what was hidden: a black hole that isn't dormant but actively accreting matter in a violent, variable dance. Whether you're curious about black holes, infrared astronomy, or how scientists race against time to capture the universe's most fleeting moments, this talk is for you. EVENT DETAILS Mode: Online (Google Meet) Date: 2nd June 2026 (Tuesday) Time: 7:00 PM IST Meeting link - https://meet.google.com/icj-pxvf-rpf This transmission is open to all. Come witness the story of compact objects, cosmic violence, and the science that races against time to capture it. May the Force of discovery guide you to the heart of our galaxy.
