To my colleagues at IIT Bombay,
I thank you all for giving me the opportunity to serve the students and the institute in my capacity as the General Secretary, Academic Affairs, UG.
At the stroke of midnight hour, as the institute rests, student representation changes hands. The office of GSAAUG was never merely a position; it's a responsibility, a trust placed in me by the student body to work towards making the academic experience in the institute a better one.
The guiding star throughout has been the simple aim: to improve the engineering training at the institute so that our graduates are better able to work for the development and progress of the country. My efforts were guided by the question: “Will an action improve the quality of education imparted to the students?” I hope the answer was yes in most situations. I also express gratitude to all who supported, questioned and challenged me. I wouldn’t have been able to rise to the demands of this office with the required conviction and preparedness.
But much is yet to be accomplished. The journey of a people’s representative is one of constant struggle and effort. It never ends nor is it ever ‘complete’. I am hopeful that in the coming years, the institute's student representation will reach greater heights.
As I hand over the charge of the Undergraduate Academic Council to Siddhant, I am confident that he will do justice to the office and serve the students selflessly.
I would like to thank Prof. Suryanarayana Doolla (Dean SA), Prof. Suvarn Kulkarni (Dean AP), Prof. Pratibha Sharma (ADean AP), Prof. Atul Srivastava (ADean SA), my friends, seniors, the faculty and staff of the institute, without whom I could not have done nearly as much.
As the tenure comes to a close, I remain committed to the ethos I started with.
