Signing Off | General Secretary Technical Affairs

April 1, 2026, midnight to April 1, 2026, 6 a.m.
Lecture Hall Complex (LHC)
Greetings from Shahu, one last time! It has honestly been difficult to sit down and draft this one last mail- putting into words a journey that has meant so much is never easy. I am grateful to the students of IIT Bombay and the Tech Community for providing me the opportunity to serve as the General Secretary Technical Affairs of IIT Bombay for the tenure 2025-2026. As the institute moves into a new chapter, student leadership transitions once again. The role of GSTA has never been about holding a position- it has been about enabling a tech culture where students are encouraged to build, compete, and grow together. It has been a privilege to contribute to that journey. From the very beginning, our focus was clear: to strengthen participation in technical projects and competitions, and to ensure that these opportunities are within reach for every student. Whether it meant increasing awareness about competitions, encouraging teams to take on ambitious challenges, or supporting students in translating ideas into tangible projects, the effort was always to make engagement with technology more active and widespread. At the same time, a key priority was accessibility. Technical culture cannot thrive if it remains limited to a few. Creating pathways for students- irrespective of their background or prior experience- to explore domains, find resources, and take their first steps was central to everything we worked on. The aim was to make it easier to start, easier to learn, and easier to contribute. These efforts would not have been possible without the constant support of the people who stood by us all the time: Prof. Suryanarayana Doolla (Dean, Student Affairs), Prof. Atul Srivastava (Associate Dean, Student Affairs), and Prof. Venkatasailanathan Ramadesigan (Chairperson, Gymkhana Technical Activities) Thank you for your trust, encouragement, and guidance throughout the year. A heartfelt thank you to Mr. Vansh Maheshwari (Admin Nominee), Ms Bhakti Joshi (Strategic Relations Nominee) and Mr. Sachin Bodke (PG Tech Nominee) for their contributions each step of the way. I am extremely grateful to my team of managers, conveners, and colleagues who have helped the tech fraternity achieve new heights and set a fantastic example for future tech enthusiasts. I am optimistic that the new council will make substantial advances in promoting technology in the future. Finally, we'd want to express our gratitude to the tech community for their active engagement and support during the year. Your excitement for technology has been contagious and inspirational, and we hope that you will continue to display it in the future. Once again, thank you everyone for your support and for making my stint as General Secretary, Technical Affairs truly memorable. Technology has always been at the core of what defines IIT Bombay- not just in classrooms, but in the countless hours spent building, experimenting, failing, and trying again. It is through projects, competitions, and collaborative problem-solving that we, as students, truly learn to think, innovate, and create impact. The technical ecosystem of the institute is what transforms curiosity into capability and ideas into reality, and it is heartening to see so many students actively contributing to and benefiting from it. I hope that every student continues to engage with technology not just as a requirement, but as an opportunity to explore, to build, and to push their own boundaries. We will always treasure the experiences and lessons we learned on this fantastic voyage. We look forward to remaining in touch with the "T" of IIT Bombay and supporting its activities in any manner we can. Before passing on the torch to Mr Veeradtiya Karan Parakh- General Secretary Technical Affairs 2026-2027, here are a few words from him- "Firstly, I would like to thank all of you for your continued support. ITC 2025–26 has had a phenomenal year, with many clubs stepping beyond their usual routines and exploring new and exciting domains, while strengthening the institute’s technical culture. As I step into this role, I look forward to building on this momentum, fostering greater collaboration across clubs, encouraging ambitious projects, and creating more opportunities for students to explore and innovate. Together, we aim to further strengthen and elevate the technical ecosystem at our institute." As I sign off, I feel immense gratitude and pride. This role may have come to an end, but my heart stays forever with the people of the council and everything we have built. Innovate. Tinker. Create. Signing Off...
