Hyperloop IITB is the official hyperloop team of IIT Bombay set to participate in the 5th SpaceX Hyperloop Pod Competition organized by Elon Musk, the inventor- founder of companies like Tesla and SpaceX. The team, founded in Sep 2019, has members from different academic programs who are working in different subsystems such as Levitation, Aerodynamics, etc to come up with the design of a functioning prototype of the Hyperloop pod. Though the concept of the Hyperloop technology dates back to 2012, the recent developments in the technology have hinted soon this is going to be the fifth mode of transport. Sealed tube in near-vacuum conditions and a pod traveling at subsonic speeds. Who wouldn’t like to cut the Mumbai to Pune route of 3.5 hours to 25 mins?! Along with the SpaceX competition, we also send our design entries to a number of other contests around the globe like the European design week, the Arizona desert loop competition, the Indian Hyperloop Pod Competition, etc. Our team has recently qualified for the finals of the Arizona Desertloop competition, making it to the league of the international teams just in a few months of operation.
