"Mechanical Engineering, or the evergreen discipline in all aspects of human life, is one of the oldest departments in the institute. Boasting of one of the highest faculty members in a single dept. in the institute, there are a plethora of research activities the dept. delves into. Mechanical Engineering at IITB, can be broadly classified into five parts : * Solid Mechanics and Design * Thermal and Fluid Engineering * Manufacturing processes * Control systems and Mechatronics * Industrial Engineering. The amount of work done in each division is quite varied and ranges from computational and theoretical study to on-field experimentation.
