Techfest, IIT Bombay is Asia's Largest Science and Technology Festival. It was born in 1998, with the motto of promoting science and technology and to foster genuine interest in students to come up with technological solutions to real life problems. Techfest has surpassed 20 golden years of creating an unmatched aura of a science and technology spectacle year after year, attracting a footfall of more than 1,75,000 and holding 300+ events with a reach of over 2500 national and 500 international colleges. In its endeavour to provide an international platform to the youth to showcase their talents and skill sets in fierce competitions, display cutting edge technology and research from all over the globe, Techfest has hosted world renowned personalities like Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, Jimmy Wales, Amartya Sen, Dr. Rakesh Sharma and many more to motivate the youth. It’s captivating night shows, international artists and fun setups keeps the festive spirit alive throughout the 3 days of the festival. Amidst the sensory overload of technological extravaganza, world class exhibits and famous lectures from all over the world, Techfest has created a platform called ‘Ideate’ where innovators and tinkerers come together to bring technology driven solutions to real life problems, majorly in the sectors of agriculture, renewable energy, biotechnology and so on. They are connected to the concerned corporate giants and government verticals who can push their solutions to the implementation stage. Techfest takes up social initiatives throughout the year to mobilise public opinions and resources from all walks of life and age groups in the form of volunteering and support. Awareness campaigns, donation and check up camps, raising voice through petitions, cyclothons, marathons and so on have been some of our tools to focus of social, health, and educational issues. Techfest’s social initiatives have witnessed support of celebrities like Sonakshi Sinha, Arjun Kapoor, Ayushmann Khurrana, Prachi Desai, Amrita Rao, and many others.
