Dear All, Greetings from PGAC! Planning to apply for a postdoctoral position but unsure where to look, how to approach potential supervisors, or what makes an application stand out? PGAC invites you to the next session of the PGAC's "Post-Doc Opportunities Series", an initiative aimed at helping PhD students navigate postdoctoral pathways, identify suitable research opportunities, strengthen their applications, and better understand what comes after the PhD. Join us for an interactive session with researchers currently pursuing postdoctoral positions in Sweden and France, who will share their experiences of navigating applications, approaching research groups, building a competitive academic profile, and making the transition from PhD to postdoctoral research. Event Details: 📅 Date: 30 August 2026 🕕 Time: 6:00 PM IST 🔗 Meeting Link: https://meet.google.com/rit-kvgr-kes Our Speakers: 1. Dr. C. Sundaresan – Postdoctoral Researcher, University West, Sweden PhD in Metallurgical Engineering and Materials Science, IIT Bombay 2. Dr. Sumanta Chowdhury – Postdoctoral Researcher, University of Nantes, France PhD in Chemistry, IIT Mandi, Recipient of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Fellowship in Chemistry (2025) The speakers will share practical insights on: • Finding suitable postdoctoral opportunities and potential supervisors • Approaching professors and research groups effectively • Preparing research statements, proposals, CVs, and application materials • Understanding what makes a postdoctoral application stand out • The role of publications, PhD research, and research-profile alignment • Letters of Recommendation and professional networking • International research experience and building academic collaborations • Common application mistakes, challenges, and lessons learned • Field-specific strategies for prospective postdoctoral applicants The presentations will be followed by an interactive Q&A, giving you an opportunity to directly ask the speakers about the postdoctoral application process and their own experiences. If you have a question for the speakers, which you want them to address, then please submit your questions in advance here: https://forms.gle/bNiMV4Ck7k8znEUv7 . Whether you are actively preparing for postdoctoral applications or simply want to understand your options after a PhD, this session is a chance to learn directly from researchers who have recently navigated the process themselves.
