Hello Everyone!
IIT Bombay Student Satellite Project (IITBSSP) is a landmark project taken up by the students of IIT Bombay. The goal is to make IIT Bombay a centre of excellence in Satellite and Space Technology. Pratham, the first satellite under this project, was launched on September 26, 2016, onboard PSLV C-35. In the following years, the team used mission insights to refine satellite design processes and focused on developing key subsystems in-house to enhance capability and reliability.
Building on this foundation, the team is currently working on Mission Navika, one of the first technology demonstration of autonomous proximity operations and docking on a CubeSat platform. Our objective is to develop a modular Rendezvous, Proximity Operations and Docking (RPOD) capability package comprising relative sensing, estimation, guidance and control, and docking interface technologies that can be reused across future missions. Such a capability can unlock mission architectures involving distributed satellite systems, in-space reconfiguration, and eventually serviceable and upgradeable small satellites.
We are opening a focused fast-track recruitment call for a small number of highly motivated students who can contribute meaningfully over the coming months, especially during the summer. This intake is meant for students with strong technical foundations, ownership, consistency, and the willingness to work in a rigorous engineering environment. While the process is accelerated, it is designed for those looking to stay on long-term, with clear pathways to grow into ownership roles and take lead responsibility across mission phases.
Please fill out the form for applying: https://forms.gle/25WogQvTodRWw1Dg6
