Councils & Student Representation
The executive leadership of Students' Gymkhana comprises 6 constitutional councils elected annually to govern residential life, academics, athletics, arts, and technical development.
The Six Executive Functional Councils
Operating for official working tenure: April 1, 2026 – March 31, 2027
Hostel Affairs Council
Coordinates hostel administration, mess governance, residential maintenance, security, and hostel student welfare in conjunction with Hostels Coordinating Unit (HCU).
Institute Sports Council
Promotes sports participation, oversees campus athletic infrastructure, manages Inter-IIT sports contingents, and conducts the General Championship (GC).
Institute Cultural Council
Enriches student life through visual, literary, and performing arts clubs, hostel cultural competitions, and the iconic Performing Arts Festival (PAF).
Institute Technical Council
Fosters technological innovation, project development, research teams, tech clubs, and the annual Institute Technical General Championship.
Undergraduate Academic Council
Formulates policies, addresses student grievances, coordinates department councils, and represents undergraduate students before Senate academic committees.
Postgraduate Academic Council
Represents Master's and Doctoral students on academic and research matters, TA policies, fellowship guidelines, and research infrastructure.

The Entrepreneurship Cell

Liaises with the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) on student healthcare facilities, emergency triage, hospital pharmacy stock, and student medical insurance.

Ensures fair representation, due process, and student defense during Institute disciplinary hearings as mandated by the SAC Constitution.
